Baby on board? Alec Baldwin and wife Hilaria Thomas 'delighted' amid claims she is pregnant with their first child
Alec Baldwin said last year that he would love to have more children.

And according to new reports, the 30 Rock star could be set to get his wish.

Rumour has it the actor's wife of seven months Hilaria Thomas is pregnant with their first child - although the couple's representative are staying mum on the matter, for now at least.

Baby on the way? Hilaria appeared as a correspondent on Extra on Monday and seemed to showing a bump in that green dress

Alec's spokesperson has neither confirmed nor denied the report, saying in a tweet: 'Our response to baby speculation over the past 18 months has remained the same... When/if Alec&Hilaria have news they want 2 share, they will share it. Until then, no comment.'

In Touch Weekly, however, claims to have spoken to a good friend of Hilaria who says the couple couldn't be happier.

This would be Alec's and Hilaria's first child together, although he already has a 17-year-old daughter, Ireland, from his previous marriage to actress Kim Basinger.

Now it's apparently happened and Alec is said to be over the moon.

'They are both so excited and Alec is so in love with her,' Hilaria’s friend said.

'She says she is so in love with Alec and he tells all her friends that she is the best thing that has ever happened to him.'

Hilaria - who just started her new job as correspondent on Extra - certainly had many wondering when she appeared at The Grove on Monday to tape a segment with host Mario Lopez.

Wearing a green dress cinched above the waist by a rope belt, Hilaria showed off what looked like a pregnancy bump as she displayed some impromptu dance moves.

And when she joined Alec at Sunday's Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles Hilaria hid her tummy in a flowing red gown.

'[Hilaria] has not said much to anyone as far as how far along she is,' the source added. 'She is so healthy and a yoga freak, so everyone could tell right away something was different.'

'Have I thought about having more kids? Oh sure, that would be great, that would be heaven, that would be fantastic,' Alec said. While the reports are yet to be confirmed, Hilaria does appear to be showing signs of a bump.

'Hilaria has told only really close friends and family she is pregnant, only a close circle she trusts,' a good friend of the yoga teacher-turned-television correspondent told In Touch Weekly.

The actor told television host Piers Morgan last year that he would definitely welcome more children since meeting Hilaria.

Tories attack RSPCA for launching a 'politically-motivated' prosecution against David Cameron's local hunt
The RSPCA risks becoming a ‘political prosecutor’ rather than an animal welfare organisation, a senior Tory warned yesterday.

Sir Edward Garnier, the former solicitor general, said the costs of a recent case involving David Cameron’s local hunt were far too high.

And he called for the charity’s cases to be taken over by the Crown Prosecution Service.
MPs clashed over the the Heythrop hunt, which Prime Minister David Cameron has ridden with, after it was the subject of a £327,000 private prosecution by the RSPCAMPs clashed over the the Heythrop hunt, which Prime Minister David Cameron has ridden with, after it was the subject of a £327,000 private prosecution by the RSPCA

The RSPCA prosecuted the Heythrop hunt in Oxfordshire last year at a cost of £327,000 following covert filming. The hunt was fined £4,000 after admitting four offences.

Although two of its members pleaded guilty and were fined, their supporters claimed the case was politically motivated to target the Prime Minister.

‘If they continue to prosecute at such huge expense in such a disproportionate way, they will be open to public criticism... by the judge, as they were, or by MPs, or by ordinary members of the public,’ Sir Edward said.

Speaking at a Westminster debate, he said the CPS would be more dispassionate.

He added: ‘This is not to say the RSPCA should not investigate, but it needs to be careful that it does not move away from being an animal welfare organisation and become a political campaigner, using the state prosecuting system as a weapon.’

The well-attended debate was triggered by Tory MP Simon Hart, a former head of the Countryside Alliance.

Former solicitor general Sir Edward Garnier warned the RSPCA would face more 'public criticism' if it pursued cases against huntsFormer solicitor general Sir Edward Garnier warned the RSPCA would face more 'public criticism' if it pursued cases against hunts

He claims that the charity is pursing an ‘aggressive political agenda’ against pet owners which is ‘at odds with animal welfare’.

Pointedly avoiding the subject of hunting, Mr Hart called for ‘absolute clarity and accountability’ about the charity’s role as a prosecutor.

He said it pursued only ‘tantalising’ cases and that some defendants pleaded guilty because they feared crippling legal costs.

But Dominic Grieve, speaking for the Government, told MPs the charity had the right to bring private prosecutions and that it performed a ‘valuable role’ bringing cruelty cases which might otherwise go unprosecuted.

The Attorney General said the Crown Prosecution Service had the power to take over RSPCA cases, or stop them if they do not meet standards for evidence or public interest.

Mr Grieve said this had happened in only four of the thousands of cases the charity has brought.

The RSPCA says it spends £5million a year prosecuting cruelty cases, which it insists accounts for just 5p in every pound donated.

It said the prosecutions department was independent of its campaigning work and that it had a 98 per cent success rate in cases.

Mr Hart, MP for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire, said the RSPCA was ‘not an arm of the law’ and claimed its relationship with police in offering to investigate such cases was ‘deeply troubling and part of the problem’.

But Paul Flynn, Labour MP for Newport West, accused Mr Hart of representing the ‘hunting lobby’ and trying to help ‘rich, powerful Tories’ break the law.

Cheryl Gillan, until recently Mr Cameron’s Welsh Secretary, praised a £2.3million prosecution that the RSPCA brought in her Buckinghamshire constituency.

Former call girl Ashley Dupré whose trysts with New York Governor Eliot Spitzer ruined his political career is pictured for the first time with new baby

These are the first photographs of former call girl Ashley Dupré's adorable baby girl taken on Thursday as she visited her own clothing store.

Izabel Jagger Earle was born at Jersey Shore Medical Center on November 10, 2012 at 4.11pm and is the 27-year-old's first child. The baby girl, whose father is Dupré's fiancé TJ Earle, weighed 7lbs and was 21 inches.

The escort-turned-businesswoman battled the sub-zero temperatures on the East Coast by layering up in a pristine white coat, $400 Gucci scarf and accessorized with aviator sunglasses.

The 27-year-old was also sporting a huge rock on her finger that customers at her store began noticing last summer.

A close friend told MailOnline: 'Izabel is one of the best things that's ever happened to Ashley.

'She is so in love with her. Nothing means more to her than her little family. She feels very lucky.'

Ashley Dupré is the call girl most famous for bedding former New York governor Eliot Spitzer.

Dupré's affair with Spitzer - who became known as 'Client No 9' - led him to resign after just 14 months in office.

A stint as a relationship advice columnist for the New York Post and a spread in Playboy followed the scandal for the mother-to-be.

She has recently transformed herself into a lingerie and swimwear specialist with a small boutique. Miss Dupré's book of sex tips was also published today.

'Tricks of the Trade: Advice on Sex, Love, and Lust,’ was released on Thursday by the New York Post. The resident Post ‘sexpert's book is comprised of her ‘Ask Ashley’ columns, written between 2008 and 2012.

The eBook, among other things, boasts chapters about relationships, fetishes, cheating and family drama.

Dupré and Mr Earle began an illicit affair shortly after news of her dealings with Mr Spitzer hit the headlines but the asphalt heir was still married to wife Alisa with whom he has two children.

After meeting at a Jersey Shore restaurant, Mr Earle had reportedly boasted to a friend: 'I could have had her for free.'

When their steamy affair was exposed later, the Earle Companies executive publicly apologized to his wife calling his actions a 'grave mistake'.

Ms Dupre meanwhile, went on to make a name for herself, this time as a New York Post advice columnist, fielding questions from readers on sex and relationships and being commended by many for her bravery in speaking out about her experience.

In a final piece for the column, to which she contributed for two-and-a-half years, she said: 'I'm proud to say that Ask Ashley has been a greater success then I ever thought.

'Not a financial one, but rather a success in letting people see that I'm more than just the girl in the headlines from 2008.'

When Mr Spitzer was accused of paying Ms Dupre $2,000 for sex at a Washington hotel the night before Valentine's Day in 2008, a can of worms was opened that revealed the governor's long time penchant for expensive call girls and culminated in his resignation

Ceramic Watches The Next Big Thing
The progress of Armani CERAMIC is incredible! Ceramic as a substance is not just for pots. Today, the famous timepiece brand Rado has utilised the substance to make their collection of Ceramic black timepieces. Earlier, the brand has been the first in making ceramic timepieces. Chanel's craftsmen, however, saw the potential in using ceramic substances to create a bracelet and timepiece housing. This is how the collection known as J12 came into existence. Nowadays the J12 collection is seen as the roguish timepiece with the film star Lindsey Lohan and many other

It's time to say goodbye to steel and embrace ceramic, and the Chanel collection is leading the ceramic trend with sports timepieces which are available in black and white. The first ever ceramic timepiece was manufactured by Chanel in 2000. This is made of non-scratch, sophisticated ceramic materials. From the time it came out, these ceramic timepieces went through different changes and are currently the most sought after among the elite.

Fortunately, Chanel is not the only one. There are also other brands that manufacture ceramic watches like Technomarine. In fact, their collection are eye-catching in their vibrant colors. But if you are not that in-love and you are not ready to spend thousands on J12 or Technomarine you can turn your attention to other brands with the same ceramic materials but a lot cheaper. Emporio Armani, for instance, has brought out a collection of ceramic watches - in chronograph and classic design - that you can avail of for only 」379. Among all brands, the expert usually go with the AR1403. Emporio Armani came out with a group of resin or timepieces with rubber straps that look like ceramic without actually taking a big bite out of your pocket.

For design lovers who go for the apperance of ceramic sporty timepieces with more affordable price then you have to check Ice watch or other brands with the same features. There is the look like the J2 black and white that you can get for only fifty pounds and they are available in various colours as you like it. Ice watch gives a collection of different shades and tones and sizes although the variety that is loved the most is the one that is suitable for both sexes who are into extreme games. Furthermore, there is a great number of advertisements of the Ice watch brand by actors and actresses like football legend Carlos Valderama, Heroes main character James Kyson Lee, and distinguished film star Jordana Brewster.

There are also substitutes on the market that come in the form of resin timepieces. Produced by the The LTD workshop, resin watches are quite cheap at 」50 each. What is amazing about this brand is that they keep their watches only up to 250 pieces, meaning if you are lucky enough to get yourself one there is going to be only 249 people in the world having the variety of timepiece identical to yours, perfect for those who hope to set new fashion in designer timepieces. With tons and tons of watches at various price levels you should make your move now and join the ceramic watches revolution.

Armani watches are designed for comfort and luxury
So it is that time again summer has been and gone and winter is most definitely upon us. The UK is gripped by winter with snow and ice bringing the UK to a stand still, so with everyone stuck in doors trying to keep out of the treacherous conditions outside the last thing on anyone's mind is heading down the high street to have a look a the range of watches available this year. Thankfully the internet is there to take the strain and make the shopping experience a lot easier for everyone and definitely a lot warmer.

The internet is such a massive resource, and with so many companies offering all sorts of men's timepieces for sale it is hard to find the right brand to look at, never mind the right one to buy for a Christmas present this year. With so many companies selling watches online, trawling through all of these online watch retailers could be a job in itself. So here are a few of the best new Emporio Armani watches in the UK for Christmas 2010.

The Emporio Armani watch brand is much like the Emporio Armani clothes label it is a brand that is aspired to and is aspiration in itself although the price point of many of these men's watches is much less than people would think.

Looking for a watch on a leather strap then there are a lot of new Armani SPORT that will be perfect with the likes of the AR0428 and the AR0429 2 of the picks of the bunch and both of these are less than £200.

If it is sports look then Armani watches have great this style as well, looking for a black dial chronograph watch then the AR0585 is a great watch. Looking for a white dial sports watch then the AR5859 is a great watch part of a new collection that has been launched by Emporio Armani this year.

The big styles of the year from Emporio Armani are their new collection of ceramic watches. The Ceramica range has changed the way in which Armani watches are viewed, for years the Armani label has been synonymous with high end couture fashion, this year's ceramic watch collection adds this couture material to their range. The styles that have really made the Ceramica collection popular are the new sports chronographs the AR1400 and the AR1403, both black and white watches have been really popular in fashion watches. The launch of the ceramic collection by Emporio Armani is now making coloured watches popular in the prestige watch market. The best thing about these 2 styles is that although they are just under £500 which is a very high price for these watches are less than half the price of their competitors such as Rado and Channel J12.

Men love watches just as much as women love shoes and these watches are definitely some of the top watches available this year.

Keep those sledges and shovels at hand. We may already have had as much as ten inches of snow – but it seems things are only going to get worse.Snow and ice will continue to wreak havoc across the country for days, forecasters have warned, with conditions likely to become increasingly treacherous.

By last night, motorways were impassable, airports had shut down, schools closed their doors and roads were gridlocked as Britain ground to a chilly halt.

Ten inches (25cm) of snow were recorded in parts of Wales, while around 3.5in (9cm) fell in parts of the Midlands and Wiltshire and 3in (7.5cm) was recorded at Northolt in north-west London. Forecaster Gemma Plumb of MeteoGroup said snow had come in 'from all directions' overnight, with strong winds in the South West and Wales causing 'blizzard conditions'.

And the AA advised that the combination of compacting snow and continued icy temperatures could prove lethal for drivers. 'We're likely to see treacherous driving conditions throughout the weekend and any fresh snow on top will just add to the problems,' a spokesman warned.

Met Office chief forecaster Frank Saunders said: 'Although some further snowfalls are likely, the focus switches to ice, with temperatures staying below zero over snow cover for many areas.'

This was despite bosses spending £36million on a 'winter resilience programme', including £11million on snow ploughs and de-icing vehicles.

Amber and Olivier Cumer, who were booked on a British Airways flight to Lyon, France, on holiday with their one-year-old daughter Anais, said: 'It's awful, We've never seen anything like this. It is just a bit of snow, it happens every year but they just don't seem to know what to do about it.'

American Jacob Burtschi, 28, who plays professional basketball in Europe, said he couldn't believe the problems a small amount of snow had caused.

'I have waited in line for eight hours and been told three different things and I'm no closer to getting back,' he added.

'For snow like this to cause this much chaos, I have not seen that before.' A Heathrow airport spokesman blamed 'visibility problems which we can do nothing about' for the delays and cancellations.

As snow continued to sweep across the country yesterday, Wales, the West Country, the West Midlands and southern England were the worst hit. In the West and South Wales, 10,000 people were without power after the sheer weight of snow brought down power lines across the Western Power network.

Meanwhile, in Birmingham, drivers reported 15-minute journeys taking six times as long as the city centre became gridlocked. The situation was little better on the railways, with many operators cancelling trains because of the difficult conditions.

Darron Burness of the AA said: 'There's been a big impact on the roads as the snow fell so heavily with traffic crawling on many routes and we've had reports of journeys taking three or four times longer than usual.'

The Met Office had a rare red severe weather warning, meaning 'take action', in place over the South Wales valleys, while much of Wales, the West Midlands and South and West England remained under an amber 'be prepared' alert.

Temperatures yesterday hovered as low as minus 3C, with Pershore, Worcestershire, and Church Lawford, Warwickshire, among the coldest locations.

The island of (almost) eternal life: Honey for breakfast, anti-ageing salad and lots of red wine. JAN MOIR meets the villagers who've discovered how to hit 100 and enjoy it
Buettner knows very well that when a place is discovered with more than its fair share of centenarians and so starts to draw tourists, truth and fiction can quickly become blurred.

‘I wanted this study to cut through the stories and establish the facts about Ikaria’s longevity,’ he says. What they discovered was that people on Ikaria were reaching the age of 90 with two and a half times the frequency of Americans. Ikarian men, in particular, are four times as likely to reach 90, often in better health.

Ikarians also suffered less depression and a quarter of the rate of dementia. ‘On Ikaria, they stay sharp to the end,’ wrote Buettner in an article for the New York Times.

At almost 100 square miles, the mountainous island is 30 miles off the coast of Turkey.

Ikarians have tamed the landscape by growing vegetables, grains and grapes in their gardens and on terraces cut into the hillsides. This is important, as locals and experts agree that the most important keys to Ikarian longevity and good health are diet, exercise and wine.

‘The wine is very important,’ insists everyone on the island. Made from a mixture of red and white grapes, it does not contains any additives or sulphites, but has a very high alcohol content of 16 per cent and sometimes even 18 per cent — more potent than sherry! However, it’s usually drunk in small but convivial measures, and never without food.
Centre of good health: Ikaria's reputation dates back centuries, to when other Greeks would travel here to soak in the hot springs on the eastern flank of the islandCentre of good health: Ikaria's reputation dates back centuries, to when other Greeks would travel here to soak in the hot springs on the eastern flank of the island

In more recent times, the island has caught the attention of longevity expert, Dan BuettnerIn more recent times, the island has caught the attention of longevity expert, Dan Buettner. He has listed it among the places in the world that have come closest to cracking the secret of eternal life

The Ikarian diet is local, seasonal and natural. A Carrefour supermarket opened on the island three years ago, but very little processed food is consumed by the older set. They don’t eat much meat, with goat being preferred to lamb when they do.

A typical breakfast would be tea made with wild herbs and bread with local honey, plus olives and cheese. The main meal of the day is lunch: typically vegetables with pulses or beans, plus wine and bread, followed by a siesta. The light evening meal is similar to breakfast.

Of prime importance in the local diet is horta, a generic name for a selection of wild plants picked from the hillsides and made into salads in summer, or boiled and dressed with olive oil and lemon in winter.

The water the leaves are cooked in is drunk with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Bitter but not unpleasant, you can feel it sluicing through your body like a cleansing tide.

One night on Ikaria I had two piping hot cups of horta soup — the next day, I felt wonderful.

That was at the house of Katerina Karoutsou, an 85-year-old widow whose hair is jet black and who still makes spaghetti by hand, rolling pasta dough on a paddle-shaped board. ‘We’ve never had the dried stuff,’ she said.
The island of Ikaria is almost 100 square miles and 30 miles off the coast of TurkeyThe island of Ikaria is almost 100 square miles and 30 miles off the coast of Turkey

In her simple house with a log fire roaring in a medieval-looking hearth, she showed me the bucket of freshly picked horta — a mixture of dandelion, wild sorrel, chicory and fennel leaves, plus other plants I couldn’t identify.

Dinner was horta, pasta, wild mushrooms from the hills and a bowl of sour, freshly harvested olives — in this form, they are particularly rich in anti-cancerous properties.

I noticed that the women around the table all had beautiful complexions, with one 58-year-old revealing she had never put anything on her flawless, peachy skin except soap, water and the occasional splash of fresh lemon juice.

Her skincare routine extended only to a little olive oil rubbed on her lips if they got dry. She was one of Katerina’s nine children, all of them born in the room next door with no drugs or anaesthetic, just the ministrations of a local midwife.

I'm thrilled! Kate puts on a brave face as she sees first official portrait critics are calling 'rotten'

Beauty, they say, is in the eye of the beholder.

But as the Duchess of Cambridge’s first official portrait was unveiled to the public yesterday, art critics were, unusually, largely united in their condemnation.

‘Ghastly ... rotten ... an out and out disaster,’ was the view of the editor of the British Art Journal, Robin Simon.

‘It’s only saving grace is that it’s not by Rolf Harris,’ was the best that David Lee, now editor of The Jackdaw and a former editor of Art Review, could manage.

Kate, on her first official outing for almost a month, was far more polite. ‘It’s just amazing. Absolutely brilliant,’ she told the artist, Paul Emsley, when she met him at the National Portrait Gallery, where the picture will hang.

Her husband, Prince William, nodded sagely. ‘It’s beautiful, it’s absolutely beautiful,’ he concurred.

From others, however, the biggest criticism seemed to be the generally ageing nature of the portrait, which took three and a half months to produce.

Most seemed to think it makes the duchess, who turned 31 this week, look at least 15 years older.

Then there are the shadows and creases which give her a rather baggy-eyed look, not to mention the squareness of her jaw and the rather coppery tint to her famously tumbling brunette locks.

One onlooker at the gallery yesterday couldn’t get over what they described as her ‘grey, smoker’s skin’, while another commented that her mouth appears to be set in a grimace rather than the promised enigmatic smile.

Vogue magazine has analysed the outfits Kate has worn since her marriage to Prince William on April 29 2011, plus a handful from before the royal engagement

Her dresses sell out within hours of her wearing them; her hairstyle is copied in salons across the country.

But all those seeking to emulate the Duchess of Cambridge’s style no longer have to pore over photographs.

They can simply consult Vogue’s complete guide to Kate.

From the diameter of her curls to the number of teeth she shows when she smiles, nothing has escaped the fashion bible’s scrutiny.

Ahead of her 31st birthday tomorrow, the magazine has analysed outfits the duchess has worn since her marriage to Prince William in April 2011, plus a handful from before the couple’s engagement – 100 in total.

So to be a true copy Kate, you should wear blue, ensure the average drop of your earrings is 33mm – and carry your clutch bag with both hands.

According to the guide, when it comes to her clothes, Kate’s favourite colour appears to be blue, which she has worn on 24 per cent of occasions.

From peacock to Prussian, it is her out and out favourite.

She also favours red (13 per cent) - which she wore for the occasion of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant - followed by white (12 per cent) and, less popularly with the public, grey (11 per cent).

Next on the list is purple (9 per cent), multi coloured or patterned outfits (eight per cent) pink ( seven per cent) and green ( six per cent).

Cream and yellow both languish at the bottom of the league table on five per cent.

By far and away most outfits worn on her last 100 official engagements come from top end High Street store LK Bennett - worn on 28 public engagements.

But designer Alexander McQueen, whose outfits cost several thousand pounds apiece and who the Duchess chose to design her wedding dress, is her next favourite label with 14.

Other designers in Kate’s top five are Jenny Packham (six), who has designed some of her most stunning evening dresses, and Temperley (eight).

Once the high street Queen, Zara languishes at seven (probably because the firm have a huge store just a short hop from her home at Kensington Palace).

But surprisingly Reiss, the label Kate wore to meet US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle at Buckingham Palace, does not even register.

Vogue have even made it their business to scrutinise the length of the Duchess’s sleeves - finding that 6:1 being the most commonly seen arm-to-sleeve-length ratio.

‘All the better to display the royal wrist-bling,’ it says.

The magazine estimates that on her most recent tour of South East Asia and the Pacific, the Duchess took along 61 items of clothing, footwear and accessories worth around £1,427 per outfit (compared to the late Diana, Princess of Wales whose tour outfits costs the modern equivalent of £4,270 a pop).

Kate’s other most talked-about asset is her glorious tumbling tresses and the magazine has even, unbelievably, worked out the average diameter of her curls - 25mm.

The Duchess goes for a glossy ‘Chelsea blow dry’ 73.4 of the time - a perfectly achievable goal if one, like Kate, has a hairdresser on call 24 hours a day.

Just like on her wedding day, she favours a chic half-up half-down do 13.6 per cent of the time, wearing it either naturally loose and curly or in a ponytail 6.5 per cent of occasions.

Her accessories are equally closely monitored.

Apparently the Duchess has perfected the tilt of her hats and fascinators - always to the right at a stylish 50 degree angle - to show off her enviable cheekbones.

The average dimension of her favourite clutch bags is 194mm by 132 mm and she carried them as thus: one handed 31 per cent, left hand over right 15.5 per cent, right hand over left 5.5 per cent, hands together 48 per cent.

Her favoured shoe designer is the upmarket Stuart Weitzman - sported on 13 public engagements out of the last 100 - closely followed by Jimmy Choo (well you would do, wouldn’t you?) at nine official events.

The analysis discovered Kate wore green dresses only six per cent of the time

The analysis found Kate favoured the colour blue, having been seen wearing it on 24 per cent of occasions, while green dresses only made it to six per cent

Statistics taken from Vogue's guide and the heirlooms lent or given to the Duchess

Even her earrings do not escape scrutiny - the average drop measuring exactly 33 mm.

One of her favourites pairs is a glittering sapphire and diamond set once owned by William’s mother, the late Diana, Princess of Wales, who sported them on the cover of Vogue in July 1994.

Seventeen years later, on her July 2011 official tour to Canada, Kate wore them in public again after having them slightly remodelled.

Creams and whites languished towards the bottom of the table of what Kate has been seen wearing

The Duchess of Cambridge leaves the King Edward VII hospital in central London, on December 6

Creams and yellow languish at the bottom of the table at five per cent, according to the study, which analysed everything including the length of her sleeves

Even her teeth do not escape the eagle eye of the fashionistas.

Apparently the Duchess, who is believed to have had her teeth whitened and straightened by ‘micro-rotation’ - using invisible braces attached to the back of each tooth - shows an average of 8.6 teeth when she smiles.

Cutting is NOT something to joke about': Miley Cyrus weighs in on sick 'Cut for Bieber' Twitter trend sparked by Justin's controversial marijuana photos'
Last week Justin Bieber attempted to put controversy behind him when he asked his fans for forgiveness after photos emerged of the singer allegedly smoking what is now thought to be marijuana.

But now a new 'Cutting for Bieber' trend on Twitter has taken the incident to a whole new and sick level.

A morbid and dangerous mock campaign started by online pranksters urged Bieber fans to self-harm themselves in protest to the controversial images of the pop star.

Twitter users and Bieber fans have since been posting graphic images, including ones of themselves with slashed wrists, surrounded by blades and blood, with some unknown to be real or fake.

Coined #cut4bieber, the hashtag has now become the top U.S Trend on Twitter.

The trend began when 4chan users launched a campaign dubbed #CutForBieber in mock protest to Bieber's alleged marijuana use.

'Lets start a cut yourself for bieber campaign,' an anonymous user wrote on the site's message board.

'Tweet a bunch of pics of people cutting themselves and claim we did it because bieber was smoking weed.'

The message board has since been removed.

The internet trolls also created fake Twitter accounts, pretending to be teenage girls who were posting images of themselves with cut arms, stating that they were self-mutilating themselves in a bid to stop Bieber from smoking marijuana.

What subsequently followed were a slew of other photos posted by Twitter users and alleged Bieber fans, doing the same, most clearly fake, but other very life like.

Since becoming aware of the trend, fellow Twitter fan Miley Cyrus has now weighed in on the subject, begging individuals to put an end to it.

She retweeted on Monday: '#cut4bieber? Cutting is NOT something to joke about. There are people who are actually suffering from self-harm, this is so disrespectful.'

The initial controversy surrounding Bieber emerged last Friday when TMZ released images of the teen heartthrob puffing on a suspicious cigarette the website claimed contained the illicit drug on the day a paparazzo was killed attempting to photograph him.

In the pictures, which TMZ say were taken on January 2, Justin is seen holding what appears to be a roll-up as he chats with friends inside a hotel room in Newport Beach, California.

Though he didn't address the incident directly, Bieber's series of Twitter admissions early last Saturday morning were telling enough.

'Everyday growing and learning. trying to be better. u get knocked down, u get up,' he posted.

He continued, addressing his Beliebers directly and acknowledging he had let his young fans down: 'i see all of u. i hear all of u. i never want to let any of you down. i love u. and..thank u. #beliebers'

The Boyfriend singer then finished off his heart-to-heart, making a resolution for change in the new year.

'Like i said...2013...new challenges. new doubters...Im ready. We are ready. see u all tomorrow and everyday after that. #BELIEVEtour,' he said.

And on the day the photos were taken, but not yet released, Bieber opened up on his Twitter account with a cryptic New Year's resolution.

'another year. another year to be doubted. another year to work hard and prove them wrong. another year we are coming out of the gate strong,' he wrote.

Meanwhile, it has also emerged that Justin's entourage ensure they regularly put a sign up in various places with a disclaimer stating that any pictures taken in the venue belong to the singer and NOT the individuals who take them.

TMZ says that it is a clever attempt by the singer's management to contain any risque antics he may get involved in.

Various situations, including the hotel incident, are also meant to be manged by Justin's security at the time.

But during the hotel get together last week, sources close to the controversy told TMZ that the snappers did not see a sign nor were they approached by his security team.

Cartier Watches for Women - A Helpful Guide
Are you looking into Cartier watches for women, either for yourself or for that special someone? Congratulations. Cartier makes truly iconic timepieces - watches that stand virtually alone as the most renowned, luxurious, and beautiful.

It was Louis Cartier's lifelong quest to create watches that were the "perfect balance between aesthetics, structure, and function," and while he died in 1942, each of today's lines of Cartier watches for women continue to embody that mission.

What to Choose - Styles & Investment

As you can gather, the question of which watch to purchase doesn't have a real answer. It's a choice best left to the buyer based on preferences of style, price, shape, and other factors. Here is a helpful summary of some of Cartier's more well known models.

Roadster: The Roadster line first hit the scene back in 2001 as a throwback to the sports cars of the 1950s and 1960s. It has a racy look with sleek curves, much as you'd see on a classy car. The Roadster's shape is much like the timeless Tortue model, though in general tends to be less expensive.

Tortue: The Tortue was designed as a woman's watch. Actually, the first men's Tortue came out in 1928, more than 15 years after the ladies watch first became available. This line is stunningly curvaceous and is a legendary shape exceedingly precious to collectors. The high price is indicative of this.

Tank: Tank was first released in 1917, and is still around today - it is yet another of Cartier's timeless lines. Simple but alluring, Tank has a rectangular face but includes a variety of "sub-styles" like Americaine, Francaise, Solo, Divan and others. Each style varies by shape of the rectangle, varying from long... to wide... to almost square. Prices differ widely within the Tank sub-styles as well.

Tankissime: While certainly similar to Tank's basic shape and style, Tankissime is in a class by itself. It is an extraordinarily elegant watch with a sleek silver or gold band perhaps better called a bracelet. The band is often studded with diamonds making it one of Cartier's most exquisite and valuable timepieces. The Tankissime tends to carry a five figure price tag making it one of the most expensive Cartier watches for women.

Pasha: Pasha is among Cartier's oldest lines, but offers a wide selection of styles (and prices) more than able to serve modern tastes too. It was originally designed as a swimming watch with its sleek, circular design that is inherently durable and water resistant. As opposed to several other models the Pasha face has numbers, rather than roman numerals.

Santos: Santos exemplifies the timelessness of Cartier with a presentation as current today as it was more than a century ago when unveiled in 1904. The face embraces fine geometric form with its iconic square inside a rectangle design. Rounded corners give the timepiece a feel of flow and energy.

Where to Buy - Traditional or Internet Retailer

When you're purchasing an expensive watch, regardless of whether it's a Cartier or Rolex or any other luxurious brand, the most important thing is to deal with someone you trust. Not only to stay away from fakes and replicas, but for several other reasons as well.

For one, you definitely need to make certain you're getting the full manufacturer's warranty as well as any authenticity certificates that come with it.

It's also important to understand what recourse you have available in the event that you decide to send it back... especially if it's a gift. Sure, it's difficult to imagine a woman who would not appreciate a Cartier, but with so many models she may not want to settle for anything less than the perfect one.

Also, in the rare event of a defect, it helps to be dealing with a seller you trust.

Bottom line... be certain you've explored the policies of a retailer you're looking into, and make sure you're satisfied with them.

There are many large online retailers who are accustomed to these concerns and have policies to ensure their customers are confident and happy, before and after they buy. While traditional retailers vary, your local high-end jeweler is typicallt just as committed to your satisfaction.

Naturally, price is also important. I've found that while it's nice to be able to examine a watch at a store, buying over the internet is generally a surefire route to getting the best deal. Fortunately, a lot of these companies also have exceptional reputations, client-focused policies, and great prices.

They make it simple to look through collections of ladies Cartier watches (like the ones above), while guaranteeing you'll be getting an authentic, satisfaction guaranteed timepiece.

Record sales of Prince’s Charles bacon has helped to, well, save his bacon after a fall in donations to his charitable initiatives.

The royal’s charitable foundation was last year gifted more than £2.8 million by supermarket Waitrose, who took over the once loss-making Duchy Originals brand two years ago and have turned it into an international success story.

In 2011 their total royalties donation was just £645,000 - amounting to a staggering 348 per cent increase in just 12 months.
Sales increase: A selection of Duchy Originals products which are sold at WaitroseSales increase: A selection of Duchy Originals products which are sold at Waitrose

It also helped offset a fall in public donations to Charles’s charities, which supports organisations working to combat everything from climate change to youth unemployment, from £12.2 million in 2011 to £10.5 million last year.

The donation also meant that the prince was able to invest £6.2 million in good causes, up from £4.7 million from the previous 12 months.

Duchy Originals was set up by Charles in 1990 as a means of raising money for deserving causes by selling organic produce grown at his Highgrove estate.

It quickly branched out, selling everything from bacon to soap, biscuits and cordials, but was hit hard by the recession and at one point saw annual losses of £3.3 million.

In 2010, however, the prince did a deal with Waitrose, giving it excusive rights to sell the Duchy range - which has expanded to more than 260 products including a gardening and beauty line - in return for a substantial donation to his charitable foundation initially set at £1 million.

The range has become a huge success - it now exports to more than 25 countries across the globe including Japan and Taiwan - and led to a significant increase in royalties, as revealed in its annual accounts published yesterday.

Mark Price, managing director of Waitrose, said: ‘These figures reflect an extremely successful year for Duchy Originals from Waitrose, meaning that we have significantly exceeded our original £1 million commitment’.

Charles’s charitable coffers were also swelled by a doubling of the monies raised by opening up the gardens at Highgrove to paying visitors and by selling a range of themed gifts including napkins, boot racks and even gin. This leapt from £312,000 in 2011 to £618,000 last year.

The accounts also revealed that The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Foundation has managed to pay off a controversial £20 million loan taken out in 2007 to support the purchase of Dumfries House, a stately home in Ayrshire with a world-class collection of Chippendale furniture, which is now open to the public.

Charles personally stood by the deal, despite being accused of putting his entire charity empire at risk by taking out such a substantial loan.

When 21 year old Stanford University student Evan Spiegel stood up in a Stanford product design class in April 2011 to present an idea for his final project, it was derided by his classmates as a 'terrible idea'.

It was a mobile phone app designed to allow 'self destructing' pictures that would disappear, without a trace, after a few seconds.

Today, Spiegel has hit 22, and Snapchat is being used to send 50 million messages a day, while battling with Facebook, which launched a similar app called 'Poke'.

HOW IT WORKS

Snapchat users open a special app to create their messages.

They choose recipients from a list of friends, and can specify the lifespan of their picture and video messages - but once opened none can last longer than 10 seconds within the app.

Special effects and even text can also be added.

'Everyone said, ‘That is a terrible idea,’' Spiegel said.

'Not only is nobody going to use it, they said, but the only people who do, will use it for sexting,' he claimed.

Today, he is locked in a battle with Facebook with Snapchat, his app - which is now used more than 50 million times a day.

He founded Snapchat with fellow student Bobby Murphy, and employed two other students, Daniel Smith and David Kravitz, and the core of the firm.

The team is headquartered in Los Angeles in Evan Spiegel’s father’s house, where it will stay for the 'foreseeable future,' although the firm is believed to be courting several Silicon Valley investors for a large round of funding.

'It’s not all about fancy vacations, sushi dinners, or beautiful sunsets,' the team say about their product.

'Sometimes it’s an inside joke, a silly face, or greetings from a pet fish,' Snapchat’s founders wrote in September.

'Great conversations are magical.

'That’s because they are shared, enjoyed but not saved.”

It the months since Snapchat's launch it has become a huge success, with over 50 million messages a day sent, up from 20m in October, when it passed the 1bn total.

It has also attracted the attention of Facebook, leading to one of the most closely watched technological battle of the year, as Facebook's new 'Poke' app takes on Snapchat for the title of the internet's top 'sexting' app.
The team regularly post pictures to their blog made using the app, such as this one celebrating co-founder Bobby Murphy's 24th birthday. The team regularly post pictures to their blog made using the app, such as this one celebrating co-founder Bobby Murphy's 24th birthday.

Facebook Poke, released before Christmas, was the social-network’s attempt to jump on the popularity of the apps that delete their messages automatically, which have led to many dubbing it a ‘sexting’ inappropriate material.

Despite being hit almost immediately with a privacy snafu when Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg's sister complained over a snap of the family trying out the app, Poke has done well, shooting to the top of the download charts.
Snapchat's team celebrating the first birthday of the appSnapchat's team celebrating the first birthday of the app

However, Facebook’s Poke has rapidly fallen down app popularity charts, despite a major PR effort, which revealed that founder Mark Zuckerberg had written code for the app himself and that it has been created in just days by a small team of engineers.

Snapchat, however, has retained its near the top of the charts for the Android and iOS versions of its app.

Even news that easily available tools allowed iPhone users to save Snapchat videos, has failed to dent the rise of the app.

Snapchat has risen to notoriety over the past year with many commentators accusing the service of promoting irresponsible sexual behaviour among teenagers.

Launched in September 2011, it was reportedly inspired by the the humiliation of New York politician Anthony Weiner, who was caught sending explicit pictures of himself to a woman online.

However, Mr Spiegel has denied that his social media tool could promote sexting among youngsters.

'I’m not convinced that the whole sexting thing is as big as the media makes it out to be,' he said.

'I just don’t know people who do that. It doesn’t seem that fun when you can have real sex.'

Nevertheless, he has told BuzzFeed that the Snapchat team is 'trying to do a better job educating our users and their parents,' and that he was looking to add more guidance materials to their website.
